inno - design | The Forest Corridor of Hong Kong

"Since a majority of the residents of Hong Kong live in high rise buildings, they are often disturbed by the noise and light of cars from the highways below. In an effort to change this condition while giving the highways an organic look, designers at Bread Studio have come up with a unique proposal that they call the Forest Corridor. Acting as a highway noise and light barrier, the Forest Corridor answers three distinct conditions of Hong Kong...

The first is the view down from the building, the second is the view from the park built underneath the highway, where people usually see the concrete underside of the highway and the third is the view of the drivers, who won’t be able to see the surroundings if a solid greening panel is installed on the highway. The proposal aims for the development of a non-intrusive barrier with climber plants on it which acts as a screen between the highway and its surroundings while also giving the highway an aesthetically pleasing look. The climber plants are grown in special plant pots below the highway and rise up along the posts installed along the highway. The posts are made using laminated recycled plastic lumber which is made by recycling laminated milk jugs and shampoo bottles. The material is durable enough and has a life expectancy of up to 50 years."

I think it's dope that the Chinese turns to their creatives and visionaries to solve an issue for their people. I couldn't imagine America even considering the thought of giving designers such creative control over one of its highways...especially since...well never mind. I'll save that for another time.

Billykirk | Chris & Kirk Bray

The Scout Mag did a great feature on Chris & Kirk Bray of Billykirk in the visual below as they gained insight into their Billykirk brand and the purpose behind it. I have always admired the bag collections of these two brothers because they possess such unprecedented distinction. As they mention in the visual, Billykirk is not a representation of trends but rather quality, and their leather goods are proof of that. Also, please be aware that all of their items are handcrafted by a group of leather workers right here in America.

...which is extremely rare these days.

3D video mapping which is also referred to as projection mapping, is a system of technology that has become quite popular in the world of digital design and marketing. It's a more engaging tool that really captures the viewer into a different world to help promote or distinguish a project. The 3DVM technology pretty much breathes life into a physical landscape, basically creating a virtual facade Pretty interesting. Check out two project references below.

Aside from the fact that I'm in love with Ines Figaredo's bags, I am more enticed with how much vision and creativity she invests into her designs. For some designers, it's all about "fashion politics" but Ines steers herself from that lane by simply creating what feels right within her. If you are not familiar with the name Afzal Kahn and his A. Kahn Design imprint, then let me just say that he is one of the top automotive designers in the world. His creative vision thrives from refining your favorite luxury vehicles into moving artwork. A few things that make an A. Kahn Design different from the original manufacturer are the unique exterior and interior customization through additions of A. Kahn labeling, leather seating/sizing, and nearly all of his vehicles feature a nice splash of candy red to coordinate with the A. Kahn Design brand. Nice.

Inno-Decor: The Treehotel

Located in the tiny village of Harads in northern Sweden, the Treehotel is a compound of four individual treehouses built among the native pines of the Lulea River Valley. But these aren’t the playthings of your childhood. Each treehouse has been uniquely designed by a different architect and includes visually stunning elements, such as a rope bridge entryway, a bright red exterior and a mirrored facade, all at nature’s doorstep.


Although, this "hotel" is a little remote at being 60 miles away from the nearest airport, the architecture is very innovative and I love the concept. Interesting getaway spot.
