Visual | The Making of Live From the Underground

If you have been living underneath the Laykyun Setkyar (Google is your friend) and are unaware that one of hip hop's newest classic albums was recently released, then let me tell you that Big KRIT's debut album, Live from the Underground is in stores now and it is a classic. I've been a fan of BK since his first mixtape [Krit Wuz Here] and I can honestly say that this guy is the initiation of a new era of great hip hop music. He's authentic and keeps his music true to the sound that he started with and I admire that. While I still do not like him being signed to Def Jam [that's another story] I am glad to see him accomplish this feat...and even more anxious to see what the future holds for this King Remembered In Time. Furthermore, below is a documentary that captured the making of the classic now known as Live from the Underground.

Visual | Swoosh! Inside Nike

and Nike has and continues...to do just that.

The documentary below was created by CNBC a couple of years ago and if you're a Nike fan, a lover of great marketing giants, or just curious about this mega-empire, then this is for you. The documentary is so amazing because it doesn't just inform you about Nike, instead it provides an exploration throughout the world of Nike. It's a different facet of the brand for sure. It allows some of the creative minds behind the imprint to project their voices about the beginning, present, and future of the brand. It's even more interesting to hear their take on the Jordan subsidiary and Nike's overall evolution. It's 45 minutes long but I promise you that it's worth your time.

Jean-Michel Basquiat: Radiant Child

If you are an art geek like myself then you must see this documentary focused on the legendary artist, Jean-Michel Basquiat. I have always been fascinated with his story but so often, his story has been told from his past acquaintances and in this film, he provides some of that story himself. It's pretty fascinating. It provides a look into who Jean-Michel, the man was and not just the artist. A friend of mine watched it and she informed me that she didn't like it because she felt it withheld a certain truth, but I argued that the only people who will ever know Jean-Michel Basquiat's truth is himself, and God; and neither of us here can speak to either one about it. So, regardless of how one feels about what type of man he was or wasn't, he is one of the most prolific artists in history and while his physical presence is absent, his spirit will live on forever as one of the greatest artists...ever.

Below is the trailer to the documentary titled Jean-Michel Basquiat: Radiant Child. It was created by filmmaker, Tamra Davis, and was selected at both the Sundance Film Festival & SXSW Film Festival in 2010, and is currently on DVD release which you can purchase here if you like. Again, it's a film that if you love artists, art, and Basquiat...you have to see it.

INFLUENCERS - The Doc

INFLUENCERS FULL VERSION

In present society, there is a plethora of individuals who would rather duplicate the persona & style of others versus developing their own...which is pathetic to say the least, but I believe that is also the differential between the two. Influencers do not set out to acquire such a position, they are just naturally born into it. Yet with the influenced, they dance into their position by believing they are being an influencer even though they are imitating someone else. I know, crazy shit right? R+I Creative did an amazing job at highlighting the definitions of a true influencer with this documentary. They focused on influential creatives who are elevating our culture right now & I absolutely loved it. However, I would love to see this be extended  to include various demographics around the world, since this doc was only focused on NYC.
