One half of the Canadian DJ collective, The Freshest, performed a set where they took an array of R&B/Hip-Hop tracks and produced their own version of the songs' instrumentals...live. Both Kutcorners and DJ Marvel did an amazing job with this set and it stirs a question inside of me of when/why did the artistic craft of the DJ stop? Because if you haven't noticed there are a lot people adding DJ to their names yet all they do is stream a playlist from their laptop to a DJ controller. No actual mixing, scratching, or live play...just nothing. Or am I wrong?
