Couture King | Didier Grumbach

In the video below, Jessica Michault, editor-in-chief of NowFashion, interviewed one of the most prestigious individuals in the fashion industry, Didier Grumbach to obtain his perspective of the state of haute couture in
the industry. Didier is currently the President of the Chambre Syndical of Haute Couture but he has been deep rooted in the fashion industry (especially in Paris) for almost half a century. In fact, if you are an admirer of Yves Saint Laurent, Didier's name may be familiar to you since Didier was the co-founder of YSL's ready to-wear brand Rive Gauche. I think Didier is a powerful visionary in fashion and his stance on haute couture is definitely concrete. View the interview below.

The brands that we all know were founded by artists who expressed themselves on the body rather than on a canvas … In the end, fashion is an industry and the designer has to compromise, but during a certain period of the designer’s life, it is art, it must be art, if not, there is nothing and a brand cannot last.”
