Retrospect | Nas + Scarlett
With the recent release of Nas' Life is Good album (if you haven't purchased it please do) a debate erected between me and my friends about Nas' best album. With a few titles being thrown around, I claimed Street's Disciple because I think it was a creative masterpiece. In my opinion, Nas ventured into a new road of storytelling. It was a lyrical mural so to speak. Of course I love Illmatic and It Was Written just as much as the next Nas fan but Street's Disciple was dope and highly underrated. Furthermore NO ONE ever speaks about the record below titled Live Now. The record follows Nas and his female alter ego named Scarlett (how many of you even knew that?) through a breathless end of reflection over Nas' life while he's on his deathbed. Hands down this is one of my top five Nas tracks and one of the greatest hip-hop records...Ever.
